Life with Boys

Canning with Boys!

I do all sort of things that people don't understand how in the world I can accomplish it with so many kids who are always home. Especially since they are all boys!

Well... I will show you how I do canning with boys.
We are making some delicious (golden delicious) apple sauce to be exact.

We are starting with 200 apples = 2 bushels, minus a few that needed to be taste tested to make sure they were perfect. By the boys of course :-)

We then soak the apples in some vinegar water to remove all the wax and pesticides that could be left on them.

Torrin and Aiden were my washer and dryer. They also hand me the jars to put into the dishwasher to rinse and warm before we can fill them with our delicious apple sauce.
 They really LOVE helping mommy

This is a great way to make them feel involved and have fun while I do  the dangerous work... Like chopping, cooking and blending the apples.

We chose to add cinnamon to some of ours and leave some plain.

Finally at the end of it all we have wonderful fruit for all winter long for about $1.50 a jar

And this is how we make canning a family event
In the Land of the Living!
